Part 2 of 5 for the May edition of "Converging over Coffee"
If you’re in the business of developing infrastructure, you will find yourself in the thick of various forms of project team collaborations. You will have a certain role or position with responsibilities tied to them, not to mention pride. Usually people think about this to mean retaining control & calling the shots, but taken too far this often leads to wasteful friction & less than ideal compromised outcomes.
One of the most important lessons I've learnt from leaders & mentors over the years is around the use of Positive Candour during complex issues & collaboration conflicts… That starting the conversation with what WE can do differently & how that impacts common goals is way more productive than focusing on what THEY must change.
